There’s something extra magical about spring in France—especially when you’re gliding past blooming trees and charming towns from the comfort of a river cruise ship.
This March, I sailed aboard the AmaDante with AmaWaterways, exploring the Seine River and stopping in postcard-perfect towns like Les Andelys, Vernon, and Rouen. The trip was equal parts relaxing and enriching, filled with beautiful views, heartfelt hospitality, and so many unforgettable moments.
Here are a few highlights that made this spring sailing extra special:

🏰 Hiking to Château Gaillard in Les Andelys
Imagine standing in the ruins of a 12th-century fortress once built by Richard the Lionheart, looking down at the river snaking through green valleys below. That’s exactly what awaits in Les Andelys. The hike up is steep but short—and completely worth it for the view alone. On a clear spring day, the light reflects off the water and the entire landscape feels like a scene from a fairytale.

👩🍳 The Chef’s Table Experience
One of AmaWaterways’ signature experiences is The Chef’s Table, an intimate, multi-course dinner hosted in a private glass-walled kitchen. On our night, we were treated to:
- A vibrant beet carpaccio with pistachio crumble
- A duo of entrees paired with regional wines
- A show-stopping dessert trio (with sauces that looked like modern art)
Watching the chefs prepare and plate each dish while sipping French wine made it feel like a masterclass and a celebration all in one.

🎭 Onboard Entertainment That Delivers
Evenings aboard the AmaDante were a delight. One night featured a singer performing the songs of Édith Piaf—her voice filling the lounge with nostalgia and soul. Another night, the energy picked up with a dazzling performance from can-can dancers in glittering gold gowns. Guests clapped along, sipped bubbly, and let the joy of it all sink in.

🚢 Why a Seine River Cruise Works So Well
- You unpack once, but see multiple regions of France
- Daily excursions are included, from guided hikes to food tastings
- You have time to relax and reconnect between adventures
- Not to mention…Paris!
This isn’t just sightseeing—it’s slow, sensory-rich travel with a rhythm all its own.
Thinking About a Seine River Cruise?
Whether you’re dreaming of a romantic escape, a multi-generational adventure, or a first-time trip to France, a river cruise offers something for everyone—without the stress of constantly moving hotels.
If you’re curious which itinerary is the best fit, I’d love to help you choose the perfect route and cabin (and time of year). There’s still space on select 2025 sailings—and trust me, fall is also beautiful time to go.
